NUTRITION

Young animals, like human babies, require a more “high powered” diet. Higher concentrations of protein, calcium and fat are needed for these youngsters.

Adult pets require a less concentrated diet although the quality of ingredients still needs to be high.

Senior pets often require diets that have lower protein and fats. Specialty prescription diets are also available. There are diets for dogs and cats with sensitive stomachs, inflammatory bowel disease, allergies, weight loss and weight control diets, diets for kidney disease, liver disease, heart disease, pancreatitis and more!

The general health of the pet as well as life-style will dictate nutritional requirements as well. Your Terra Nova Village veterinarian will be happy to answer any questions you may have on giving your pet the best diet for their needs.

Two of the main brands of pet food that we carry are are Hills and Royal Canin (Medical).
